The Chronic Collective is an awareness-based apparel brand created to support those living with chronic conditions.
We like to think of ourselves as more than just a clothing brand though!
We know our apparel and designs won’t magically fix everything (we wish), but we do believe – no we know – that The Chronic Collective has the power to do more than just clothe you. Through our clothing, community and actions as a company, we have worked hard to create a business that truly puts you, your health, and the health of ALL people at the forefront and heart of what we do.
We want to not only show our support through our clothes, our community, and our actions as a company, but as well as through our logo. Our logo identifies us and shows that we are a community here to truly support each other.
Though our logo may look like a cute little bow at first, if you look closely you’ll see it is actually two spoons coming together to create something beautiful. As you probably know if you are in this community, those with chronic conditions sometimes refer to themselves as “spoonies”. This is based on the “Spoon Theory”, created by blogger Christine Miserandino, to help describe what it can be like living with a chronic condition.
So that’s why we intentionally created the logo using two spoons coming together, not only as a symbol to represent what we are all about, but also to represent what it can be like living a misunderstood and hidden journey that many have with chronic illness. A journey that in many cases, people may not see or understand, unless they look closely and ask – which is the same with our logo.
This is something we also kept in mind when designing our logo as we realized that sometimes, our hidden journeys are not ones that we want to share all the time – and that is totally okay! We are all more than our conditions, and while sometimes we may want to wear something that makes us feel part of this strong community, other times we may not want to talk about or disclose our health conditions. That’s why we created our logo in a way that is supportive to you – allowing you to feel the support of being part of a community bigger than yourself while also providing the opportunity and the ability to feel empowered to make the choice to share your story, in your way, only when and if you want.
